I like the idea of keeping it very monotone with the color, and only using hints of blue. The design itself didn't really stand out, but i think it still works nicely.
I agree the design doesn't do too much for me but I love the fact that it is very classic and clean looking, and not too cluttered. I think those factors and the use of pretty much just one bright color make it pop. And I actually saw this poster and it caught my eye also. : )
